CHOIR SINGER




TITLE: AUDIO FILE PROCESSOR


DESCRIPTION:

Recorded sermon audio files require some manual processing before being stored in the audio room. The pastor provides a sermon CD to radio station(s) who later present the sermon to the radio audience.


DUTIES:

- Download audio files from the recording device to the computer.
- Use computer software to review and edit sermon audio files to remove bad audio. Examples include but not limited to: Coughs, private local content, interruptions, and blatant mistakes.
- Backup and maintain audio files offline.
- Create sermon CDs for storage in Audio Room.
- Add CD label to sermon CD.
- Delete audio files from the recording device.
- Occasionally, make a duplicate CD for church member upon requests.


TIME REQUIRED:

Usually, a minimum of 1 hour per sermon audio file with up to 3 sermons per week. Some seasons may slightly increase the number of audio files (Example: Easter services).


EXPERIENCE:

Some computer knowledge required. Training provided to use software and other equipment.



TITLE: CHURCH WEB SITE ADMINISTRATOR


DESCRIPTION:

The Bethel Chapel church web site contains important information for the Bethel Chapel members and public audience. One of the most important items is the online sermon audio. The web site allows Bethel Chapel to reach an audience beyond the physical building. Web site maintenance is crucial to the Bethel Chapel ministry.


DUTIES:

- Obtain Internet sermon and song special audio file(s) from AUDIO FILE PROCESSOR.
- Upload sermon and song special audio file(s) to the web site server using an FTP program.
- Edit various HTML files as needed to add/remove access to sermon audio and other information.
- Update home web page for church service cancellations (Typically in winter season)
- Maintain mail group services including prayer list group, mobile alerts group, and bethel worship team group


TIME REQUIRED:

Varies. Weekly content usually includes up to 3 sermons per week. Some seasons may slightly increase the number of audio files (Example: Easter services). Allow 3-4 hours weekly for this activity.


EXPERIENCE:

- Some computer knowledge required.
- Knowledge to edit HTML web files required. Activity usually done by simple text editor.
- Must use an FTP program to upload files to web site server

Training provided on use of software and method of editing the HTML web files.



TITLE: SOUND BOARD OPERATOR


DESCRIPTION:

Preaching and singing events require audio sound to be heard over the church speakers and feedback monitors. The sound board is the heart of controlling the audio sound level. The sound board contains many controls and buttons BUT only a relatively FEW are actually adjusted during the preaching or singing event.


DUTIES:

- Turning on and off the sound equipment.
- Operate the audio file recorder.
- Operate the CD and cassette tape player for song specials.
- Operate the sound board for preaching and singing events.


TIME REQUIRED:

Prepare equipment prior to church service and operate for duration of the meeting. Typical week includes 3 services (2 - Sunday morning and evening, 1 - Wednesday evening). If multiple sound board operators are available, a schedule can be created to alternate and share required duties. Some seasons may slightly increase the number of services (Example: Easter services).


EXPERIENCE:

Training provided to use sound equipment.



TITLE: COMPUTER OPERATOR


DESCRIPTION:

Preaching and singing events require music lyrics, scriptures, and sometimes other media to be displayed on the projector screen. Operator must be able to anticipate when to display media.


DUTIES:

- Turning on and off computer equipment.
- Turning on and off the projector.
- Use computer software to display media on the projector screen. [Currently, the software used is called MediaShout and is used to display various types of media such as scripture, text, images, sound, and video.]


TIME REQUIRED:

Prepare equipment prior to church service and operate for duration of the meeting. Typical week includes 3 services (2 - Sunday morning and evening, 1 - Wednesday evening). If multiple computer operators are available, a schedule can be created to alternate and share required duties. Some seasons may slightly increase the number of services (Example: Easter services).


EXPERIENCE:

Some computer knowledge required. Training provided to use software and other equipment.



TITLE: AUDIO ROOM MANAGER


DESCRIPTION:

The audio room is where we store recorded sermon audio CDs and congregational lyrics. The audio room manager needs to correctly file sermon CDs in the proper locations. This position may also require filing song lyric file folders in the file cabinet.


DUTIES:

- Place audio sermon CDs in correct storage location.
- Place paper copies of congregation music folders in file cabinet.
- Audio room manager has the option to design and maintain method of storing media.


TIME REQUIRED:

Time required varies. It is best to check filing status on a weekly basis which would only require approximately less than 15 minutes. OK to perform activities on a bimonthly basis.


EXPERIENCE:

None required. Training provided.



TITLE: MUSICIAN - GUITAR PLAYER


DESCRIPTION:

The guitar player is an integral part of the music ministry at Bethel Chapel. Music is a wonderful ministry in the church services.


DUTIES:

- Play guitar instrument for congregational singing and other song services.
- Ability to tune guitar instrument using available tuners.
- Practice and coordinate with other musicians of the music ministry.


TIME REQUIRED:

Prepare instrument prior to church service and be available for duration of the meeting. Typical week includes 3 services (2 - Sunday morning and evening, 1 - Wednesday evening). If multiple guitar players are available, a schedule can be created to alternate and share required duties. Some seasons may slightly increase the number of services (Example: Easter services).


EXPERIENCE:

Must have sufficient guitar playing ability.

NOTE: A small audition may be required before position approved.




TITLE: MUSICIAN - BASS PLAYER (BACKUP/ALTERNATE)


DESCRIPTION:

The bass player is an integral part of the music ministry at Bethel Chapel. Music is a wonderful ministry in the church services.


DUTIES:

- Play 4-string bass instrument for congregational singing and other song services. - Ability to tune bass instrument using available tuners. - Practice and coordinate with other musicians of the music ministry.


TIME REQUIRED:

Prepare instrument prior to church service and be available for duration of the meeting. Typical week includes 3 services (2 - Sunday morning and evening, 1 - Wednesday evening). If multiple bass players are available, a schedule can be created to alternate and share required duties. Some seasons may slightly increase the number of services (Example: Easter services).


EXPERIENCE:

Must have sufficient bass playing ability.

NOTE: A small audition may be required before position approved.




TITLE: MUSICIAN - KEYBOARD/PIANO PLAYER (BACKUP/ALTERNATE)


DESCRIPTION:

The keyboard/piano player is an integral part of the music ministry at Bethel Chapel. Music is a wonderful ministry in the church services.


DUTIES:

- Play keyboard/piano instrument for congregational singing and other song services.
- Practice and coordinate with other musicians of the music ministry.


TIME REQUIRED:

Arrive prior to start of service and be available for duration of the meeting. Typical week includes 3 services (2 - Sunday morning and evening, 1 - Wednesday evening). If multiple keyboard/piano players are available, a schedule can be created to alternate and share required duties. Some seasons may slightly increase the number of services (Example: Easter services).


EXPERIENCE:

Must have sufficient keyboard/piano playing ability.

NOTE: A small audition may be required before position approved.




TITLE: CHOIR SINGER


DESCRIPTION:

Participate with other choir singers for congregational and worship singing. Singing is a wonderful ministry in the church services.


DUTIES:

- Sing congregational and worship songs with other choir members and live music. Occasionally, prerecorded music soundtracks are used.
- Occasional practice with choir to learn new songs and reacquaint with existing songs.


TIME REQUIRED:

Arrive prior to start of service and be available for duration of the meeting. Typical week includes 3 services (2 - Sunday morning and evening, 1 - Wednesday evening). NOTE: SUNDAY EVENING and WEDNESDAY EVENINGS are times when choir members are fewer. Bethel Chapel would welcome backup choir members to participate especially on these services. Some seasons may slightly increase the number of services (Example: Easter services).


EXPERIENCE:

Must be able to sing in tune to the music. Ability to harmonize a plus!
